You could say that 2008 was the year that Kuna Days got its groove back.
From a packed park on Friday to the fireworks show Friday night, from the Saturday morning parade, eating contests, lawn mower drag races on Main Street to the return of the popular Street Dance, just about every event reported increased attendance and high customer satisfaction, according to an exclusive story in this week's Kuna Melba News.
Plus, even with more events and more entertainment this year, Kuna Days reported about a break-even year financially. Kuna Days chairman Allen Gamel said the final numbers still aren’t in, but it appears the balance is about $2,000 to the good. Kuna Days started with about $2,000 in the bank.
Donations were less than hoped for, with about $1,100 donated toward the fireworks, even though police estimated a crowd of 9,000 to 10,000 people Friday night.
Lloyd Stubbs once again provided a spectacular fireworks show. Several people commented that Friday night’s display was the best fireworks show they had ever seen.
You can read the rest of this story, including what the police chief thought of the weekend's events, and see four pages of photos from Kuna Days, only in this week's Kuna Melba News.
